ATTORNEY GENERAL KILGORE "MAPS OUT 2003 LEGISLATIVE AGENDA" BUT IT DOESN'T DEAL WITH ALL THE SS#S OR CHILDREN'S NAMES ON THE INTERNET…

Attorney General Jerry Kilgore's January 7, 2003 press release tells what  he would like to see put through the General Assembly this year.  His agenda, he calls it.

One of the things he mentions is Identity Theft; however, his "agenda" shows  NO plan to deal with this online records mess involving the Clerks of Circuit Courts and the millions of Social Security numbers already on the internet in various types of documents… and children's names and their DOBs in divorce papers among other things.

If  the AG is truly concerned  about identity theft, he should remember back to December when I personally mailed to him and his brother a copy of a Credit Line Deed of Trust for $105,000 issued by People's Bank which had their Social Security numbers on the front page not once , but TWICE!

The document was obtained off the website which hosted the internet records for SCOTT COUNTY where the Kilgores are from and it cost $30 to get into the site and get his documents and many others.

Social Security numbers were all in those records.  A true treasure trove for an identity thief! But the Clerk of Court made sure his number - and his wife's - were off a similar document BEFORE putting his on the World Wide Web! (NOTE to Mr. Taylor, the Scott County Clerk: You just know I had to have people over to my house to see all that stuff on the internet - yours included.)

So how about it Mr. Kilgore? Care to explain why you don't care about our records/lives - or better yet your own records/identity?

After sending out the several hundred letters that went into Scott County, I heard from many via phone and email that your brother, Del. Terry Kilgore, said that this online records mess was going to be "the first thing" to be dealt with in this session.

As of this writing (2300 hrs on 1/9/3),  I don't see where he has put in any bill to deal with the records which are/were online in Scott County and currently are online in others counties he serves like Wise County which has had as many as 3000 subscribers in a year who were allowed  to see all the SS#s and personal information from the convenience of their home or office.

There is nothing in your plan about identity theft that remotely fixes the problem or helps the people in this regard. WHY NOT?

AND YOU WANT TO BE OUR NEXT GOVERNOR?

The Governor I vote for will care about my records and my identity and those of every child whose name appears in divorce papers or Homestead Deeds that are already on the internet thanks not to their doings, but to their parents problems….They are innocent.

Will it take a child being kidnapped and killed and the culprit saying he got the info about where they lived off the Clerk's internet site before something is done to protect the records ALREADY online?

Instead of trying to collect finger prints or retinal scans to put on a driver's  licenses,  the people of Virginia would like to have their personal records in the courthouse PROTECTED and not sold!
