WHY?    BECAUSE THEY ARE SPOON FEEDING CRIMINALS BY ALLOWING THEIR "RECORDERS" TO PUT RECORDS ONLINE CONTAINING SSNs AND OTHER PERSONALLY IDENTIFYING INFORMATION!!!

Those records contain millions of Social Security numbers.  For an example, the Maricopa County Recorder's site is a veritable treasure trove of SSNs.  The Social Security numbers are found on most divorce papers (yes, they're online complete with all details), Federal Tax Liens, financing statements, mortgage papers from the 90's, and on those Death certificates that they are showing to the WORLD! 

They are spoon feeding anyone who is an identity thief, stalker, terrorist, burglar, or pedophile by having internet access to people's personal records and SSNs.

All it takes to screw someone's life up is for pedophiles to get into these records and get minor children's names, DOBs, SSNs and find out which parent they are living with and see the address...or others who could misuse the SSNs, signatures, DOBs, etc.  A signature can be stolen right off a computer screen and then someone could misuse it...

With a SSN and home address, an identity thief can ruin lives.  Most identity thieves are not caught either.

HOW CAN ARIZONA AND THE REST OF THIS COUNTRY BE SO STUPID?  WHY IS THIS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN?

The main reason is because they ARE public records and can be seen  by anyone if that person goes to the Courthouse or recorder's office.  But there is a HUGE difference in going to the office where the records are stored and sitting in your home 24/7 and digging thru these records and hunting up the SSNs!   That is spoon feeding criminals!

And it's happening because 99.999999999% of the citizens of the states who are doing this or have already done this - or are in the process of putting these records online - don't know it's happening.   The more people who find out about it, the better.  And they can start raising hell and get on the band wagon with The Virginia Watchdog and help stop it.  This is not too late to REVERSE.  In Virginia there is one more General Assembly session to stop all this mess.

To see just how easy it is to find SSNs in Maricopa County, Arizona's records put there by HELEN PURCELL, the County's "Recorder", go to this link and dig for SSNs for FREE:

Then pick a period like from January 1, 2000 to June 1, 2000 and pick a document code like:  "DEATH CER" (for death certificates complete with deceased SSN and DOB) or "Divorce" or "Fed. Tax L" (for Federal tax Lien)...  There are other categories where the SSNs will appear on documents like "Fin State" (Financing Statement).

Then choose to get the document by PDF and click to "View Unofficial Document".   The document will come up usually with a cover page which you need to page on by.    You will be able to see credit card/bank/life insurance account numbers in divorce papers plus Vehicle Identification Numbers, minor children's names, SSNs/DoBs of those kids, what child support is, etc.   Too much to be seen on the internet from anywhere in the WORLD!!!

 On each Federal Tax Lien will the first listed person's SSN which is very easily recognizable...and if for a company then the Company's tax ID #.   And on Financing statements (also called UCCs on some states' sites), SSNs generally appear.   In North Carolina, the UCCs are hosted/put online thanks to the stupidity of their legislature and the N.C. Secretary of State.  Click on this link to go search for SSNs.  Look up records for an "individual" and pick a last name like Cooper and use a first initial like "R".   Then to see the actual document, click on the "file number."    The IMAGE will come up.... Many counties' records are online in NC as are in most states.  These records will be the same as in the rest of the states: Deeds (with signatures and in Florida you'll see SSNs), Mortgage papers, financing statements, federal tax liens, etc. 

Astounding isn't it?  Do the good citizens of Maricopa County know this?  Do the citizens of any other state know this?  My bet is NO!   And in the case of VIRGINIA all clerks have to be online with our records by July 1, 2006 if they are not already online.    Read the top article found on the home page called "THE ONLINE LAND RECORDS ISSUE" to get a clear picture of who's online already in VA and spoon feeding criminals. 

Here's what the citizens of Arizona and other states who have put this info/records online should demand - SHUT DOWN THE SITES!

If people want to see your records, make them take off from work and drive to the courthouse.    Then get on your state legislators since this is a "state issue" and make them  pass legislation outlawing these sensitive records containing SSNs from being put online and also outlaw the bulk sales of these records to data brokers or others who could sell your information.   I'll make a wager that most legislators in Arizona don't even know these records are online...
