THIS IS THE LETTER THE MECHANICSVILLE
LOCAL WOULD NOT PRINT WHICH WAS SENT TO THEM TWO WEEKS AGO. APPARENTLY
THEY ARE TRYING TO INFLUENCE THE ELECTION AND KEEP THE FACTS FROM THE VOTERS.
THEIR CIRCULATION IS 25,500! SO 25,500 HOMES NOW SHOULD REALIZE THEY DON'T GET
THE WHOLE STORY OUT OF THAT PAPER.
THE HERALD-PROGRESS PRINTED HALF OF IT (10/27/03) ..... THEY WOULD
NOT PRINT THE INFORMATION ABOUT HALL WHICH COULD HAVE VERY EASILY BEEN VERIFIED
IN THE CHANCERY RECORDS AT THE HANOVER CIRCUIT COURT CLERK'S OFFICE WHERE THE
DIVORCE FILES ARE.... WHY SHOULD THE NEWSPAPERS NOT PRINT THE HALL DIVORCE
INFORMATION? THE JUDGE BELIEVED THE TESTIMONY.
Letter to the Editor:
Mr. Wade, you should be ashamed to be sucking up our tax dollars like you are in
that part-time traffic guard job you have! There are employees in this county
with more responsibilities than just stopping traffic for buses who are working
full-time jobs and who aren't making $21,652 - and your salary is JUST for one
and a half hours a day during the school year (180 days)! And a lot of people in
the private sector working a full 40 hour work week aren't making that kind of
money either.
Next, I am really confused why Sheriff Cook and Supv. Wade would come out and
make it look like this is the first time the Sheriff has endorsed Board members.
PUH..Lease! This is THE second time I have personal knowledge of because in 1999
I was shocked to hear Sheriff Cook endorse the whole Board. Beaverdam's Aubrey "Bucky"
Stanley was a beneficiary of that endorsement, but what most people seem to
forget - or don't know - is that Stanley has spent time in jail (1991) for tax
evasion and it also took him way over ten years to pay the IRS the money he owed
them for back taxes. Even after jail, tax liens continued to be filed against
him at Hanover courthouse. It was reported in the papers back then but for some
"odd" reason, newspapers nowadays don't want to mention it. But it is
embarrassing to have him as a sitting Board member even if his felony charges
were reduced to misdemeanors. To have him run as a Republican is even more
embarrassing! But then again, he is part of the good ole boy system here in
Hanover!
Then there's Ashland District's Tim Ernst who has been convicted of violating
the conflict of interest laws. And what is even more amazing is that our
Attorney General, Jerry Kilgore, endorsed them both! I wonder if Kilgore knew
about all this?
Even more baffling is why the AG would
endorse Otis Hall (R). A check of files at the courthouse will reveal details of
his four marriages and three divorces (1960's thru the early 1980's), but even
more concerning is TWO of his ex-wives' allegations of physical abuse to the
point of needing medical attention (for one wife) the papers say.
And the fact that he was not making child support payments until he was
threatened with contempt charges is a concern also. But he brought his payments
up to date right before he gave up his little daughters for adoption to his
first wife's second husband. Who would vote for a man who would give up his own
kids? And why didn't the Republican Party know this about their candidate?
Didn't anyone ask him about his past - especially one this colorful?
I look at the people supporting Hall and wonder if they are cut from the same
cloth? Would they have such things written about them in divorce filings?
Probably not, but will they continue to support him? His former mother-in-law
(the first one) testified under oath that her daughter had "come home to us with
bruises on her where he hit her." Personally I don't think anyone in this county
wants an alleged abuser on the Board!
All the papers are public record and they
are sickening to read. He denied it in his filings but who wouldn't deny that
kind of behavior! Who could possibly defend his past actions? You can tell a lot
about a man in how he treats his wife and kids... and this man didn't treat his
wives very well according to his past wives' filings - and then he gave his
girls away!
People have a right to know all this before they cast their vote on November
4th. If you don't believe me, go up to the courthouse and read the records
yourself.
